Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to the 4th international combined live symposium “Focus on congenital cardiac surgery”. This year it will be held again at the Deutsches Herzzentrum München. This joint live symposium is already well established and known for its lively and dynamic atmosphere. The three previous symposia took place in Munich, Leipzig and London in 2002, 2003 and 2005, respectively. Co-organizers remain the distinguished teams from the Herzzentrum Leipzig and the Great Ormond Street Hospital London.

Once again the symposium includes several live operations and interventions, transmitted directly from the operating rooms or catheter labs to the symposium venue. Thus, the audience is given the possibility to observe both the surgeon and interventionalist during their procedures, address questions, and discuss treatment issues. Numerous lectures by renowned experts complete the visual impressions.

This year´s focus will be on therapeutic options for the subpulmonary or subaortic morphologically right ventricle.

We look forward to welcoming you to Munich.

Yours sincerely

Welcome to the 4th international combined live symposium "Focus on congenital cardiac surgery". The very first symposium was also held at the Deutsches Herzzentrum München in June 2002. Together with the Herzzentrum Leipzig and the Great Ormond Street Hospital London this year's symposium focuses now on therapeutic options for the subpulmonary or subaortic morphologically right ventricle. Using live transmissions from the operating rooms and catheter labs, surgical and interventional techniques can once again be made available to all participants and offer a unique learning experience. The distinguished faculty together with the live broadcasting will guarantee a high level of interactive discussions.

As patron of this 4th international combined live symposium and Bavarian State Minister of Sciences, Research and the Arts, I am particularly pleased that this symposium is being held again in the capital of the Free State of Bavaria. This kind of event accentuates Bavaria's renowned excellence in medicine and innovations. I wish all participants a pleasant and successful stay in Munich.
